Hong Kong - Large Covers
Though not intended a feature of this site. Large covers have been
included for variety of designs and info on covers in Asia.
Large covers in Hong Kong are often two flap design. Sutiable for a
person to enter.
Can be on roadways or footpaths. Heavy duty design.
Often raised lugs are modified into designs. Featured image a good
example.
Popular manufacturers - Ming Lee & Wing Luen. Older covers identified include Hop Fung, Tai Too, Fo Jin and Kong Fai.
Popular casing design - rounded corners, access indentation.
The water supply department of Hong Kong can be identified as: HKWS,
HKDW (Dept of Works), PWDHK (Public Works Dept).
Other covers included below are telecommunications - HKT and sewerage.
Designs vary between raised lugs, stylised small lines and recessed long lines (Telecoms ?). Once exception - #7506, British made.
Many show the the British broad arrow head symbol of government infrastructure.
