This style is the most popular valve cover. The lid is attached by a long pin. The lid curves over and under to protect the pin (#157).

The smaller municipal hidden hinge is the basic model (#713).
These range from individual plumbers (#85, #229 ...), municipal councils. MCC-PG is a newer cover from Melbourne City Council - Parks & Gardens (#751). An early cover from the MMBW - Melbourne & Metropolitan Board of Works (#159, #703). Jenco has been making covers for over 50 years. Though some of their more newer ones (#183, #570, #576). Other larger manufacturers include Charmac (#839), Havestock (#706), R&S Grating (#148, #157, #826), TEC (#190).
John Danks & Son (#853) was a major plumber's supply company. They feature in many styles of covers.
Newer covers - Icom (#756), Unknown Spirals (#844).
A most unusual cover is a Rocla one (#842). This company specialised in concrete pipes. Note the stamping of the company's name in the concrete. The cover features a stylized map of Australia. The company must have had contract to supply Kew Council as (#843) has the same map but with KCC inscribed.
Many covers feature a prominant 'W' to signify water from gas (#803, #148 ...). Water is occasioanlly indicated (#608) or 'HF' (#795).
