This style of cover is one that dovetails into the casing where the hinge pin connects it.
This style is one of the oldest. Used thicker casing and covers. No new ones are now made. Almost all of these are over 50 years old.

Over time identification and patterns are completely worn away (#160) or eventually rust (#1039).
Luckily many covers still feature original markings. An example is C H Curtis Plumbers. Different styles are shown for this one company - #146, #150, #712, #1039.
Some municipalities are featured: CCC - City of Collingwood (#589), City of Fitzroy (#998, #1032).
John Danks & Son (#598) was one of the biggest suppliers of plumbing fittings and requisites form over ..... years. Their name appears on a wide range of covers.
A name plate recess was located on many covers (#609, #964, #989, #994). R P Finn (#700) shows an intact name plate.
Other covers had the name during forging. These have seemed to have greater lasting qualities.
Jan 2024 - New cover #8039. Victorian Railways with Government arrow. Very old cover estimated 1920s or earlier. Located in Seymour, Victoria. Period when railways were developing rural towns.
